I couldn't resist these four eyes!

Gone Bananas!

As you can see from the pictures above, I've got alot of bananas getting ready to ripen! Four different trees are producing at the moment. YIPPEE! They've all bloomed and came forth at different times, so I won't be bombarded with bananas all at once, thank goodness. I guess it takes a while for them to ripen on the tree, the first picture's bananas have been there a good month already and they're not ready yet. So I'm just patiently waiting. The three bunches are sweet bananas, but one bunch are green bananas. Meaning they never get sweet and they're good in stews and for frying. Fried green bananas! Never thought I'd find a replacement for green tomatos.
Sylvin's called the last two nights. It's been good hearing from him. The countdown has begun. Shouldn't be bad now. Not at liberty to really say when he'll be home....but I'm exicted to see him finally.
Girls are good. We've been homebodies lately. Sticking close to here and just running errands. All the germs out there this time of year really make me leary. I'd be much more adventurous when Sylvin gets home, that way in case I do get sick, I've got back up. We have been hitting the kiddie pool when it's not raining. The last 3 days we've gotten dressed, get to the door to leave, open it and it's POURING so we end up not going. Needless to say the girls have gotten better at coloring. We finally went today though. It was busy up there, everyone else had the same idea as us. The girls love the pool. They're still painfully shy around everyone....but once they warm up, they get comfortable with being in the pool. I've got lifejackets on both of them cause there's only one of me and two of them. But they don't mind....the life jacket has a float behind the head, so the girls lean back and float on their backs. They're so cute just limin in the pool. Little toes wiggling carefree. So sweet.
We're going to brave the Naval bases' holiday kid's christmas party Dec 8th. I hope the girls take well to Santa. I'd like to get their pictures taken on his lap. Wish me luck and start praying now they don't have a meltdown.

Giving Thanks

In a day and age when we're all so damn busy being.....it's good to have at least one day that people have to stop and spend time with their families to give thanks. Give thanks for their spouses, their parents, children and friends. I know my friends and family are as gracious as I am. I appreicate you all so very much. I am painfully reminded how precious my little family is as we're seperated this Thanksgiving. I couldn't be more in love with Sylvin and the girls than I am now. My life is good. I give thanks to God for keeping me safe and growing me up into the woman and mother I've become.

The following is from Sylvin, he sent me an email for the girls. I wanted to share with all of you. I've got the best man and father for our girls ever! I'm such a lucky girl. I can only say thank you to his parents for doing such an amazing job at giving him the foundation to become the man he is today.

I love my precious children. Our children, they came from our hearts
and are a product of our love. They are so innocent, tender and blissful.
Even though they don't know the word love they know what love is. I
can see it in there eyes, and I can feel it when they hug me. They bring
some thing to my life I never expected, balance. I know now what it
means, truly, to have a family. They, along with you honey, are truly my
greatest accomplishment and none will ever compare. The greatest thing
in the world is to have a truly loving family and that is us.

Two eggs over easy, not hard boiled

Wow, we've had a day already. I dunno how much excitement the girls
got outta the day, but I got plenty. I was planning on going to church
so we headed that way. Got there and had to park in the ACE hardware
parking lot cause the one in front of the church was full. So when I got
out of the car I took the keys and put them in my diaper bag and as I
was getting out, I meant to grab the bag but ended up shutting the door
instead. I went around the back to open the hatch to get the stroller
and it was locked. Starting to panic, I went back around to the
drivers door and it was locked too. All the doors were locked with the girls
in the back and no A/C! I ran into ACE and called 911 for them to
come and unlock the car and get the girls out. The rescue fire department
came and they were able to get into the passenger door about 10 mins
after they got there. Geeze I was a mess honey. I was so scared. The
girls were fine...they were only sweating a little, but nothing
unusual. They were looking at us like we were all crazy. They checked them
over and waited for me to calm down. I'm so glad they were able to get them out fairly easily. They were talking about towing the car or breaking a window. In
the end they just used a flat head screwdriver and a long metal rod to
get the door open. They were able to pry the door open enough to get the
rod down in there and push the lock button to open the door. I don't
even know who I hugged in the end. I was just so happy the doors were
unlocked. It sucked. I'm exhausted. But glad it all turned out alright.

Needless to say I didn't even go to church. I went directly to Napa auto store to see if I could find a spare key magnetic thing for the car. Napa didn't have one so me and the girls braved the record grand opening crowd at Home Depot. They just opened a brand new store Nov 15th. Sylvin's so happy they finally got it done. I can't believe I even considered going but a little less than 5.00 later, I got a magnetic thingy and a spare key that'll open the door only. We're not having a repeat of today EVER! I'm suprised one of the fire guys didn't smack me and tell me to keep it together, I was this side of almost a little hysterical after they got the door opened.
Other than that, not a real exciting weekend. The neighbor's are having a Thanksgiving dinner and invited me over. So I think we'll be there for the later part of the day. Around 2pm, one of the guys Sylvin's works with wife is having a little get together for us spouses around 2pm. I think we're going to try to make that too. It'll be nice to see all the ladies from the ship. I'm going to miss everyone I love though this Turkey day, won't be the same that's for sure.

Veteran's Day

Make sure you thank a Veteran today. It's a great opportunity to actually set aside a day to celebrate vets, but we really should thank them more often than just once a year. I'm going to try and ensure that our girls will have the same love and respect I have for vets.
I'll kiss my Coastie sugar and say thank you along with my two other friends I hold very dear.

jibberish but meaningful

A new tenant

Well, along with banana trees, we have a plethora of banana spiders. These guys are ferocious! At least they look pretty frightening. Look at the mandibles on this thing. I actually seen it catch a fly and spin it into a tasty snack in seconds flat! The web is amazing. I don't have the heart to tear it down or shoo the spider out it's home over my garbage container outside. I must say it's picked a brilliant spot, over the garbage where all the flies are bound to gather. Maybe it's got a larger than average sized spider brain too. It's one humongous spider!
My friend Tabitha and her family finally arrived on island. We met on an internet site I frequent and found one another. She used to live her almost 3 years ago, and now is back for 5 more years. So we've been talking and emailing one another back and forth and we just seem to click super well. She's sweet and she's got two young kids. A son 3, and a daughter just a few months older than the girls. Cute kids and a nice husband too. I think he and Sylvin will find alot in common.
I watched the kids for them today so they could do some running around trying to get housing and such squared away. We had fun, but whew, having 4 kids in the house.....well, let me just say I was pooped by the end of the day. I don't remember going to the bathroom all day until I was getting the girls ready for their bath! And I never did get to eat today either. I think I might have found my new diet plan....but doubt I'll be able to stick to it!
I've also been hanging out with my next door neighbor Cara and her 3 girls too. She's got a 7 year old, 3 year old and a 13 month old. They've got a ton of toys at their house so the girls and I go over there and I turn the girls loose and me and Cara talk a blue streak while consuming coffee. I never thought I'd enjoy drinking coffee so much!
Even though I miss Sylvin a TON! I'm so thankful I'm able to stay home with these two and be Mommy to them. They are so much fun and they're so sweet. I enjoy playing with them, reading to them and making them laugh.

Halloween in Guam

Well, not sure if the girls really knew what was going on, but I don't think they seemed to mind staying up late and getting fed candy! I opted out on buying them costumes this year, I thought it would be way too hot in a costume, so I got them little T-shirts instead. I figure by next year they'll really be excited about it and we'll dress them up then if they'd like to sweat that badly. I can't recall a Halloween ever where I've donned shorts, flip flops and a tank top in 80 degree weather. Most of the trick or treating I remember was pretty chilly and you were grateful for warm bulky costumes and the condesation that collected in your mask cause it kept your nose from falling off! The girls and I went with our neighbors Cara and Rick. They have three girls, 7,3 and 1 year so we kinda fit. Cara and I have been hanging out a bit at her house while we chat and all the girls play. Anyway, we walked all over the Lockwood, our immediate neighborhood. The girls were content riding in their wagon and collecting candy and compliments. They were facinated with a borrowed flashlight that looked like a witch and when you turned it on, her mouth opened with the light coming out as she cackled. Probably took us close to an hour and a half, start to finish and so then we came home and did our bedtime routine. They pretty much went to sleep straight away. Stinkers.....I'm gonna be in for it next year when they're running around the neighborhood dragging me from house to house. Rick, the girls next door dad, had his middle one by the end of our trick or treating carrying her on his shoulders cause she was tired of walking along with her big horde of candy, plus a flashlight and an umbrella, in case it rained...poor guy looked like a pack mule. That'll be Sylvin next year hopefully if he's home. We missed him but he's never that far off in our hearts. Just keep your fingers crossed he'll be home in time for the holidays.
