Bathtime with Papi

Geeze! I can't believe it's been almost 3 weeks since I've made the last entry here. Sylvin's been home and we've been really trying to make the best of the time we've got. It's been so nice having him home. The girls really have gotten used to him being home. They enjoy Papi giving them a bath at night and then he reads to them and we both tuck them into bed. We have made a few trips to the beach, we've been exploring the island by car, and lately, we took the girls to their first trip out to dinner last night. Our friends DJ and Kerri called to invite us to Top of the Mar. It's a little restaurant on top of Nimitz Hill. It overlooks the Philippine Sea and we'd gotten there just as the sun was going down. The view was magical. I wished I would have brought my camera. Dad, if you ever get here, we're taking you there at sunset! We met DJ and Kerri and a few others that they called from the ship. Top of the Mar does Mongolian BBQ on Friday nights. It was superb! I can't even begin to describe how well I prepared my meal. For those of you how are familiar with Mongolian style BBQ, you put all the raw ingredients on a plate. Meats, vegetables, spices, oils and sauces. Then you take the plate to the man on a big round grill-like thing and he tosses all the raw ingredients on there and like stir fries it until it's done then puts it back on a clean plate and you go get noodles or rice to go with it. It was 14.95 for all you can eat. I had so much shrimp on my plate it was ridiculous. Wholly smoke it was good. We brought the girls portable high chairs and they sat there and ate dinner with the rest of us. They were so good, nobody fussed or cried they were even laughing and squealing at one point. We were sitting out on the patio of the restaurant under a huge canopy looking out onto the lights of one of the bays. Beautiful. Afterward, we took the girls home to meet the babysitter and put them to bed. Then we took of for a little bar on the water called Jimmy Dee's to watch the fire dancers. We got there way before they started. We had a drink and sat and talked for a while waiting and waiting. We decided Guamanians must run on Cruzan time too. Cause by ten thirty they still didn't look like they were going to start anytime soon. So we left and came home. It was an awesome night. We were so glad we got out and went to dinner and then for a drink. We got to talk and dream and enjoy the night air at the beach. From where we were sitting at Jimmy Dee's looking out to our left, it looked like Judith's Fancy at night on St. Croix. Almost as good as being home. Almost....

Sylvin's Home!

Sylvin made it home. He got home on Thursday and the girls were so happy to see him. They don't let him get too far outta eyeshot these last few days. They didn't want anything to do with him the first 5 mins, acted all shy and looked at me like "who is this guy?" But after that, they wanted him more than me. It was pretty cute.

It was raining cats and dogs the afternoon he pulled in of course. Me and the girls drove down to meet him, and in doing so, I about put a hip out while carrying Sy on the deck of the ship cause I slipped. Didn't go down and didn't drop the baby thank God!.... Flip flops get really slippery. After they called liberty.....which means free to go.....we had a little beer ceremony/gathering there on the pier under a pavillion. It was nice, got to meet some of the guys that serve on the ship with Sylvin and put spouses together.
Friday we all went to "Chommorro Village" it's a little arts and crafts place with little stores that sell trinkets and souvieniers with local eateries sprinkled about the place. They have a "Jamacian Grill" there and we went to check it out. They wanted $3.25 for a Ting!!!!(Ting is 4oz carbonated grapefruit drink. super good and very addicting from Jamaica..YUMMY) And you couldn't even smell the food cooking so we opted out for trying any and figured the two of us combined could cook better than anything they had to offer. We also walked over to the local fish market and found yellow fin tuna for $3.45/lb! HOLY SMOKE! I know what we're feeding everyone when they come to visit. Saturday we stayed home most the day cause Sylvin bought a smoker and a slab of pork ribs. Wow, what a combination. It's Sylvin's new hobby, smoking meat and he's damn good at it! Sunday we took off early moring after church and went to the beach. It was beautiful. It was trying to sunshine while it rained. We even took Beans with us for his first dip. We were the only crazy people there on the beach so had the whole thing to ourselves. The girls loved it. I still put them in thier floaties and they kick back and relax and play. Sy even got brave enough to make a fuss about getting out. So I did and she wanted to try and walk around on her own. She was so cute. They love the water.
Sunday night, our neighbors DJ and Keri came over and we sat out on the patio and talked ourselves silly. It was alot of fun just hangin out. It's so nice to have Sylvin home. I know the girls missed him pretty bad. They got up this morning and he was gone to work and they were walking around the house looking for him. Saying papa and dada. He came home from work this afternoon and all three of them had a jamn session. Sylvin sang and played the ukelele for the girls. So sweet. They like to hear him play.

OH! We're getting bananas! One of the trees has flowers on it and the flowers turn into bananas. Cool huh? We've got a good 12 or so that are growing. Should have bananas in a week or two, maybe longer....I dunno. I guess they only produce once every 18 months.
