Gab Gab Beach

Gab Gab Beach
Sylvin's from the Virgin Islands and I'm from Indiana. We met in St. Croix in 2000 when I was on contract there as a nurse. It all started there on a beautiful sandy beach....then lots of moves and an eventful adoption of our twin girls..Esyanne and Evelisse in 2006. We feel our greatest milestone yet!
We've come to a semi cirlce,.....hence the sandy beaches....This site is all about our adventures in Guam and archives of our first year in Michigan together. Me, Syani, Eve and Sylvin too! We're so very very blessed!
Please feel free to leave a comment at the end of a post. I enjoy the feedback and it lets me know you've been here. Or if you prefer email, send me some at guam.usvigirl@gmail.com

Moving out of their CRIBS!

Well, this was a transition I was dreading. My babies aren't little anymore. If I had my way they'd stay in their cribs til 3 but I guess safety and the girls perserverance won out! Since I found Syani in Eve's bed three times on Saturday night, we decided to put their mattresses on the floor and give up the ghost. They adored the idea of running and jumping on them when we first rearranged their rooms to the new scheme. So much that Eve was up til 12:30am this morning goofing around. Now they're both extrememly pooped and I didn't have any problems getting them down for their naps this afternoon! Silly girls. Sylvin's busy outside trying to get bedframes put together before he leaves again. I don't think he's going to see completion until he returns. No worries, it's not a long fall from the mattress on the floor to the floor. We found Eve this morning on the floor with one leg still slung over the edge of the bed. The good news is I didn't have to put duct tape on anyone last night. They were too busy tearing up their rooms to worry about their diapers being on or off. Now if I can just get them potty trained we'll be over the hump and on our way to early childhood years. Shheesh, I'm already debating preschool!? What was the name of the truck that hit me and turned me into a parent.? OH yeah, names are Sy and Eve! Wow what a ride.

PS. the below video is from just the other day when we decided to take a trip to the Asan overlook. It's not too far from the resturant that we go to Top O' Mar, so you might think this looks familiar. Probably is since I've taken pictures from this side of the rock before.
Love you all.

Papi's hits the beach!

Yippee, Sylvin's home for a little while and we're relishing in his homecoming. Even got a little sunburnt waiting on the pier for liberty to finally be called. He can go whenever he wants, but he likes to make sure all his people are leaving the same time he does. Anyway, the girls were happy to see him. I can't keep them dressed these days. They were in really cute matching pink sundresses but stripped for dinner and this picture was taken afterward.....all fat and happy. (That's Eve's cheeze face)
Well, don't want to spend too much time on here, so I'll update you once he's gone again. Love to you all and thanks for checking in with us.
OH.....PS. I started a online distance learning course for medical claims and billing. I'm going to try to start working from home once I finish, if I can. Wish me luck.

Cool Whip shampoo!

We were over at Mehan's last night for a potluck. We were all out in the living room talking and Sy & Eve were playing in the kitchen. The last time I checked on them, they were laughing and hitting the swing door on the garbage can making it swing all the way around. Well, they'd been quiet for a while and I was deeply engrossed in a conversation. Next thing I know Mehan shouts "O my gosh!" and I take off running toward the kitchen only to find Eve with her hands in her hair spreading cool whip like shampoo into it! She had gotten into it from the buffet table and taken the lid off to only grab handfuls out to wash her hair with. She was completely slicked down and sticky!

She decided to share and was 'washing' Sy's hair too, but I think we intervened too quickly for Sy to get as messy as Eve was. Needless to say, the floor was sticky, Eve was covered in cool whip and and just kept say "pampoo, pampoo". I stripped her down and had to give her a bath right there at Mehan's. Thank God all I had to do was douse her off with water. I had a big pitcher Mehan gave me to rinse the cool whip outta her hair. Mehan had to take some pictures before she'd let me rinse her off. She was cute I'd have to admit.

Giggling girls

Last Thursday I was named 'secondary' ombudsman for the ship. I'm in cahoots with another spouse Mehan, who was named primary ombudsman. I'm thrilled. I adore Mehan. Mehan is a sweet person and I think she's going to do a wonderful job. We've been hanging out alot lately and it's nice to feel like I'm forming a friendship with someone I'll consider a friend for a long time to come. We've been working as a team on some things. We both decided that Guam needs a CG spouses support group as well since it's nonexitant here. I've kinda taken on that challenge as Mehan settles into her Ombudsman role. I've been gathering information and working on laying out a website. I've got all kinds of ideas and ambition. I just hope it's as easy to organize as it is to dream up. Somehow I know I'm dreaming. The ship doesn't have a huge married population, so that might work in my favor. Then again, not all the spouses like to participate. I'd like to leave this rock in a better way than I found it. So wish me luck!!
Day by day the girls are playing more and more with one another. It's not uncommon to hear them squealing and giggling at one another. Usually it's Sy provoking Eve into laughter. It's so cute. They really like one another. I'm so blessed to watch these two develop this sacred and indestructable bond. What a wonderful gift to grow up literally with your best friend. I never had a sister and my gift is going to be watching the bond and friendship that emerges between these two. Don't get me wrong....I'd NEVER trade my brother for anything!
They're blabbling more and more too. Things are still in "toddlerese" and I'm usually the only one who can make things out. But they're attempting to parrot back new words they've never said before. At night they say "nigh night Papi". I got them on video and sent the link to Sylvin.
I let the girls play outside today like usual and got out the finger paints so they could make a mess on their little table out there. Well they did, HUGE MESS! I got out the hose to spray the table down and them down. Sy ended up getting something in her eyes and kept rubbing them getting more and more finger paint into them. The finger paint was homemade and made primarily outta dish soap! Needless to say I'm scooping her up and yelling at Eve to come into the house from the kitchen holding Sy over the sink splashing water in her eyes to try and flush the soap out. Beans got outta the door, Sy's screaming bloody murder cause she's freaking out, Eve's running around in the driveway, the neighbor's are calling child protective services cause there's a crazy lady yelling at her children at the top of her lungs!!
Screw the schedule and any order to things. I threw them into the tub after rescuing Eve from the driveway and whistling the dog back inside and drying Sy's eyes. I'll NEVER make that damn fingerpaint outta liquid dish soap ever again!!!!
SO!.........how was your afternoon?

Wow, April already!

Well, no earthquakes since the last one reported. I probably should be knocking on wood. I doubt I'll ever get over how wierd a sensation it is. My Aunt Pam wrote me recently and said she knew how it felt and assured me, that Nope, I'll never get used to it. She lived in California most of her life, moved to Florida a few years back. Traded earthquakes for hurricanes.

As you can see, I took the camera outside yesterday when we were out in the yard playing. The girls are 23 months old today. I can't believe how fast and how big they've gotten. I've been a mom for nearly TWO years! The time has gone so stinking fast. I used to think that saying was so cliche....but now I'm realizing more and more just how true it is. Now I'm saying it to new moms I meet.

I get now why people oogle so much over babies too. I miss mine! They're running and almost talking. Everyday they're that much closer to telling me they'd like a "happy meal and put shrek in please."

I've heard from Sylvin lately. He was inport recently and was able to call home. I'll have to tell you later where they were, but he said he was definitely taking us back there as a family before we left this side of the world. I think we've agreed to pass on going to Japan too. As much as I'd like to, I'm really not interested in seeing it. Call me spoiled I guess. Besides if we don't go to Japan, we'll be able to spend twice as long in Australia next year. So no sleepless nights over that decision here.

We're all doing well. Survived April fools day without folly. Did you see this video?

Hope your day was good and have a great rest of the week. We love and miss you all!
