We're Michigan shortimers!

Well, we're hitting single digits here in Michigan. Only a few more days left. Sylvin's been working his backside off and it's a shame we're going to have to leave the house in someone else's care now that it's finally looking so lovely.
I can hardly believe we're moving still. We just got settled in here. The girls are getting bigger and not requiring 24 hour care like they were last year. We've had a chance to get some much needed home improvement projects completed around here, and the house is finally feeling like home. So is military life I guess. I keep telling myself we signed up for this, knew it was a possibility when we got here we could go at any time. Just thought the likelihood was slim. WRONG! Same for Guam. If Sylvin puts in for his Warrant Officer and they approve him, we HAVE to go where they want him too, if he declines, then he forgoes his promotion. So who knows when we'll be able to come back to this neck of the woods.
The movers are coming Wednesday and Thursday to pack up our stuff we're sending to Guam and we're headed out Friday after the house is cleaned up. Hopefully we'll get to stop off in Colorado to see Brett, Megan and James on the way out to California. We hope to be in L.A. on July 4th. Shipping the car off on the 6th and catching our flight the 8th. I'm nervous about handing the dogs over to complete strangers, but it's all under quarantine policy and we have to, if we want them to come with us.

Offically Introducing the "M" Twins!

Hi all!

Well...it officially Official! The girls are now Miss Evelisse M. and Miss Esyanne M. The lawyer called today at 5:40 pm and said all the paperwork was done. Our adoption is final and legal. Nothing NOTHING can change that fact now. Honestly, there was really nothing anyone could do about it last May 6th, but it's nice to hear that everything is over and done with now. I guess where the girl were born is the longest state in the union that takes to finalize an adoption. Figures huh?

We're already talking about a possible boy, that's looming in the future. We'll see how it goes. Guam is a huge obstacle at the point for any further adoption plans. If it doesn't happen, we'll be just as happy, wanting anymore children now is just being greedy. We've been doubly blessed and that's way more then we ever expected.

Away from adoption talk....the moving stuff is rolling at a steady speed. They'll be here bright and early to pack up our stuff we're sending to storage. I've got my brother coming up this weekend he's babysitting my fish and aquarium for the next 3 years. He's going to have to sleep on the air mattress or futton, cause they're taking the bed. My dad's supposed to come up too to pick up our treadmill.....I doubt if I can talk him into either one of those options, it'll be me and Sylvin sleeping on the futton or air mattress.

OH! More news....the guy who was coming to take over Sylvin's place on base was going to rent our house. We've been talking to him since April. We sent him pictures of the house and he came to town to see it Thursday. He came over took a video of the house and spent the rest of the day with Sylvin. He took him down to the base and showed him around. The guy said he'd go home and talk with his wife and get back with us....Sylvin's called and called and you know the SON OF Fck@# hasn't even had the decentcy to call and tell us he's not interested! Two weeks to go before we leave the state and now we've got NO renter! Luckily we have hired a property management agency to look after the house and find us a renter, but still. I don't have a good feeling they'll find one anytime soon. People are moving out of Michigan by the hundreds daily. No one fighting to get in. Hope it doesn't sit vacant long.

On a good note, everything that needed done to the house is finally getting finished. Just in time for us to leave and for someone else to enjoy it. Isn't that Murphy's law or something?

Hello Everyone,
Well, looks like I'm only averaging maybe but once a month when it comes to blogging an entry. Something better than nada I say..... Thanks for checking in with me anyway.
We had a good time in Stx. Didn't get sunburned, thank God. But I'm sporting a pretty good farmer's tan! Can't tell if I'm wearing capris. Sweet. I got ring and bracelet tan lines. The girls enjoyed the beach finally on trip number three. They were pretty freaked out by the waves and all the sand to begin with. The picture above was taken at Salt River. Historically speaking, this is where Columbus landed when he discovered the Islands. I suppose only fitting that this would be their first experience of a beach. It's also Sylvin's favorite beach.... It's on the North side of the island about half way, it's kinda in a bay area. You'd think with it being protected, it wouldn't be rough, but it was. The waves were relentless and the beach was littered with "bush" or seaweed. We sat on the edge and let the girls get used to the water but didn't really stay long. Our second trip was to the West end of the island close to Sprat Hall beach. When we pulled up there were a group of tourists on horseback limin'. It was cool to see them all. We chased them off and then had the beach to ourselves. The girls seemed interested this time around. We got them to sit and play in the surf, which wasn't much. It was fairly calm over on that side. No "bush" either, which was nice. Just light tan sand and turquoise blue blue water. The sun was getting ready to set and it was perfect. The girls got brave enough to splash around some and we walked them in waist deep so they could float around. Eve even at one point pushed away from Sylvin as if to say, "Let me go, I got this! I'm a natural Papi." Needless to say that very next day we went and bought them life jackets just in case one did get away. We took them to Cane Bay the last trip to the beach and had a blast with them both. It's on the West end too. One of the world's coolest places to dive! We didn't of course. But one day maybe ....
It was a good trip all in all. Hopefully the next time we visit we'll be staying in our own house with our own car. That will be a nice feeling. We visited our piece of land and they've improved the roads leading up and over the mountain our land is on. Still a better ride for a Jeep, but accessible nonetheless. I can't wait til we can call it home one of these days. OH! On a side note; it took us 25 mins of waiting in the line for drive thru at McDonalds for ONE Quarter Pounder Value Meal!!!! It is Stx we're talking about here. Sylvin about had a stroke being patient....and he grew up here.
The plane rides were a challenge. The return trip from St. Croix was a nightmare, but we made it. Let's just say we started out at 10 am in St. Croix and didn't get home and in bed til 4am that next morning! The courier service is finally dropping off our last piece of luggage late tonight..... That's all I'm gonna say about that.
